Spiritual Growth

At Calumet Christian, spiritual growth is at the heart of everything we do. From chapel services to Bible instruction, our students are not just participants—they are leaders. We are committed to equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and faith to grow in Christ and inspire others to do the same.

A Life of Faith and Leadership

At Calumet Christian, spiritual growth isn’t just about individual faith—it’s about creating a community where students grow together, mentor one another, and lead the next generation. From the first days of Kindergarten to the final steps of high school graduation, students are immersed in opportunities to deepen their relationship with Christ and share His love with the world.

We invite you to explore how Calumet Christian can partner with your family in raising up leaders of faith for today and tomorrow.

Pastor Brett Clayton

Spiritual Services Director

Calumet Christian is blessed to have a full-time Director of Spiritual Services who is dedicated to the spiritual growth of all students, from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Our Director of Spiritual Services is a licensed and ordained youth pastor who works tirelessly to nurture the spiritual development of our students through special events focused on deepening students’ relationships with Christ. Further, as the chair of the Bible Department, the director ensures our Biblical curriculum is impactful and aligns with God's mission for our school.

Recognizing that behavioral challenges often stem from a lack of discipleship, our Spiritual Services Director oversees detention and in-school suspensions, transforming these moments into opportunities for individualized discipleship rather than mere punishment. This one-to-one approach allows the director to:

  • Build meaningful connections with students and their families.

  • Provide personalized guidance to bring students closer to Christ.

  • Support families in forming a strong spiritual foundation for their children.

This unique approach helps students grow spiritually, emotionally, and behaviorally, aligning their actions with the Christlike character we strive to instill.

Elementary Chapel

Thursdays at 8:05 AM

Elementary Chapel at Calumet Christian is a unique opportunity for students to engage in worship, prayer, and teaching, with leadership provided by secondary school upperclassmen. Under their guidance, elementary students actively participate in leading songs, sharing Scripture, and demonstrating their growing faith.

This incredible opportunity is only possible in a K-12 environment like Calumet Christian, where mentorship becomes a daily experience. Younger students grow up watching and learning from older student leaders, and it’s a profound moment when those same students grow into the mentors for the next generation. Our Elementary Chapel Team creates and presents object lessons, encourages the younger students to worship freely, and serves as a friendly face they always know they can depend on throughout the building.

Secondary Chapel

Wednesdays at 8:00 AM

Secondary Chapel is a student-led experience that brings our community together in heartfelt worship and teaching. From leading worship through song and instruments to managing the sound booth, students take full ownership of the chapel service.

Gifts and talents are showcased as students, faculty, and staff contribute through art, music, spoken word, preaching, teaching, and corporate praise and worship. It’s a time for everyone to experience God’s presence and be inspired to live out their faith.

Small Groups

After chapel services, small groups provide a time to dive deeper into the message and apply it to real life. Led by student leaders, these groups create a space where peers can pray for one another, share their struggles, and praise God for answered prayers.

Small groups are organized by gender and/or grade, fostering a sense of community and trust. While students lead the discussions, an adult mentor is always nearby to offer guidance, answer questions, and ensure clarity in understanding the message.

Bible Instruction

Biblical integration is infused into every class and subject at Calumet Christian, but we go beyond most Christian schools by making Bible a dedicated daily class—180 days a year, every year from Kindergarten to high school graduation. This results in 2,340 days of intentional biblical instruction, equipping students with a lifelong foundation of faith.

  • Elementary Years: Students learn foundational biblical principles that shape their understanding of God’s Word and His purpose for their lives.

  • Middle School (7th & 8th Grade):

    • Biblical Beginnings: Exploring God’s plan for their lives and the world.

    • Biblical Relationships: Understanding how to center God in relationships with family, friends, teachers, and even preparing for future roles like spouses or parents.

  • 9th Grade: Bible in a Year offers an overview of each book of the Bible, showing how historical evidence and biblical truth weave together to guide life and faith.

  • 10th Grade: Biblical Transformation examines the lives of early believers in Ephesians, Romans, and Acts, focusing on how students can be active participants in the church and the world.

  • 11th Grade: Biblical Leadership teaches students how to answer God’s call through examples of leaders in the Bible, equipping them to be lights in their communities and beyond.

  • 12th Grade: Biblical Apologetics challenges students to take ownership of their faith, defend biblical truth, and explore the diverse ways denominations approach shared principles. This culminating course prepares them to confidently navigate faith in the world outside of a Christian school setting.

Additionally, our secondary school Bible teachers are all licensed and ordained pastors who are deeply invested in the mission of Calumet Christian. They are an integral part of our school family, bringing years of ministry experience and a passion for guiding students in their faith journey.
