Taught by qualified Calumet Christian faculty, these courses help students develop critical thinking, academic confidence, and real-world skills.

Introduction to Psychology
Explore the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Students will learn foundational theories of human development, emotion, cognition, motivation, learning, and personality.
Introduction to Sociology
An introduction to the study of human society, social relationships, and social institutions. Students examine cultural norms, social structures, and how human behavior is shaped by social forces.
English Composition
Develop strong writing and critical thinking skills essential for success in college and professional environments. Students learn to craft clear, coherent, and well-structured academic essays.
American History I covers early American development from pre-Colonial times through the Civil War.
American History I I explores Reconstruction through modern American society, touching on political, cultural, and social change.
Introduction to American Government
Study the foundations, structure, and functions of the U.S. government. Students will explore constitutional principles, political processes, and the roles of government at the federal, state, and local levels.
English Rhetoric
Master the art of persuasive communication, argumentation, and effective writing. This course helps students develop their analytical and rhetorical writing skills for both academic and real-world contexts.
Introduction to Human Services
Explores the history of human services, career opportunities, and the role of the human service worker. Focuses on target populations and community agencies designed to meet the needs of various populations. Course includes a required job shadowing project in a Human Services setting.
Understanding Diversity
Introductory course that encourages cultural awareness and appreciation of diversity. Focuses on cultural variations in attitudes, values, language, gestures, and customs. Includes information about major racial and ethnic groups in the United States.
Helping Relationship Techniques
Introduces students to the core skills and ethical considerations involved in helping professions, including counseling, human services, and social work.
Crisis Intervention
Focuses on techniques and strategies for assisting individuals during emotional and psychological crises. Students learn assessment, support, and referral strategies.
Introduction to Disabilities
Explores the social, psychological, and educational aspects of disabilities. Students gain a foundational understanding of working with individuals with diverse needs in a variety of settings.
Community Healthcare Worker
Prepares students to work in healthcare-related outreach roles, bridging the gap between communities and health and social service providers. Topics include client advocacy, health education, and cultural competence.
